Finance Minister Miftah Ismail announced on Friday that the federal government has decided to increase prices for all oil products by Rs30. — just one week after a similar rise.
The new prices will take effect as of midnight tonight, the minister said during a press conference in Islamabad.
Following the latest hike, petrol prices will be set at Rs209.86, diesel at Rs204.15, kerosene at Rs181.94, and light diesel at Rs178.31.
“The government is still facing a loss of about Rs9 in petrol despite a rise of Rs30, the minister said.
Ismail stated that the government was in daily discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), adding “We can’t accept all of their demands, but there are some things we have to agree on.”
However, Ismail said the government would provide price stability for sugar and wheat at Rs70 per kg and Rs40 per kg respectively in utility stores throughout the country.
