Quetta – Balochistan’s Finance Minister, Mir Shoaib Ahmed Nosherwani, is slated to reveal a budget exceeding Rs800 billion for the fiscal year 2024-25.

This announcement comes ahead of the provincial assembly session scheduled for June 22, as confirmed by officials on Saturday.

Financial Allocations and Strategic Priorities

According to sources within the finance department, Balochistan is expected to receive Rs667.5 billion under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award from the federal government for the upcoming fiscal year.

This marks a notable increase from the Rs493.70 billion allocated in the current fiscal year. The province anticipates receiving Rs20.55 billion in royalties from oil and gas sectors during the next fiscal year.

Coalition Collaboration for Budget Formulation

In a bid to ensure inclusivity and consensus, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti chaired a consultative meeting with coalition partners and opposition members.

This marks a significant departure from previous practices, emphasizing transparency and broad-based input in budget preparation.

Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and Provincial Assembly Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai were present at the meeting, where stakeholders expressed confidence in the chief minister’s governance reforms and budgetary proposals.

Focus on Development and Accountability

Chief Minister Bugti underscored the government’s commitment to prioritizing education and healthcare sectors in the upcoming budget.

Proposals include a proposed 300% increase in the education budget and a 100% increase in healthcare expenditures.

He further emphasized the importance of timely project implementation, with plans to initiate tendering processes immediately after Eid to avoid delays.

Efforts are also underway to strengthen oversight mechanisms, with responsible officers tasked to monitor development projects closely.

Initiatives to bolster anti-corruption measures and enhance governance through the CM’s Inspection Team were highlighted as ongoing priorities.

By fostering collaboration and transparency, Balochistan aims to streamline its fiscal strategies and promote sustainable development across the province.
