On Monday, Saeed Ahmed Baloch, a local leader of the Baluchistan-Mengal National Party (BNP-M), was shot to death by unidentified assailants in the city’s Qambrani Road area.
He was the younger brother of BNP-M’s central labour secretary Musa Baloch. According to BNP-M sources, Saeed was going to the Qambrani area when shooters opened fire on him. Ghulam Nabi Marri, BNP-M district president, said that Saeed had received multiple gunshot wounds and died instantly.
Shortly after being informed of the incident, the police rushed into the area and transferred the body to the civilian hospital.
The Chief Minister of Baluchistan, Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, took notice of the incident and asked for a report from the Inspector General of Baluchistan.
After the tragic incident, BNP-M workers and supporters jammed traffic on Sariab Road by burning tyres. Many BNP-M workers flocked to the hospital. They took the body to an ambulance on Sariab Road and blockaded the main road.
The head of the BNP-M, Sardar Akhtar Jan Mangal, condemned the assassination of his party’s leader. “Our Central Labour Secretary Musa Jan Baloch’s brother Saeed Ahmed has been shot in Quetta today,” he tweeted.
