A 5.0 magnitude earthquake jolted the federal capital, Rawalpindi, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to local media sources.
Earthquake jolts were also felt in many other areas of Punjab and the PK, including Multan, Faisalabad, Abbottabad, Swat, Buner, Kohat, Malakand, Kotli, Azad Kashmir, Swabi, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, and Torghar.
People in the affected areas left their homes and offices immediately after experiencing the tremors.
According to the Pakistani Meteorological Department (PMD) seismic monitoring center and it started at 14:23 PST. Areas adjacent to Afghanistan and Tajikistan have been identified as the epicenter of the earthquake, according to the seismic center.
No fatalities have been reported so far.
