A day after the Sindh High Court (SHC) let Dua Zehra decide her fate, a judicial magistrate on Thursday allowed another teenager Nimrah Kazmi to decide with whom she intends to reside and accompany.

The cases of Zehra and Kazmi garnered attention after it was alleged that both girls were abducted from their homes in Karachi.

Later it was disclosed that both girls married “beyond their will.”

Kazmi appeared before the court on Thursday to register her statement before the judge pursuant to Section164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. In her statement, she said that she was 18 and was married to Muhammad Najeeb Shahrukh of free will.

She stated that she wanted to live with her husband and not her parents.

Shahrukh’s lawyer claimed that Pakistani Peoples Party member Sindh Shehla Raza was pressuring Kazmi, who was living in a shelter on court orders.

He said Kazmi’s family was permitted to meet her, but Shahrukh and his family were not.
