Answer: By Islamic traditions, Abraha with a military expedition against the Quraysh of Mecca in an invasion of the Hejaz in 570, known as the year of the elephant.
Abraha, the Yemeni governor, built the church but the Arabs refused to come for pilgrimage in Sanaa. This infuriated him, prompting him to form an army to invade Makkah and demolish the Kaaba.
