Italy reports over 70,000 coronavirus cases,143 fatalities

Italy reported 70,520 corona virus-related cases on Saturday, down from 73,212 on Friday, according to the Ministry of health, while the daily death toll dropped to 143, down from 202.

Italy has registered 162,609 COVID-19 deaths since the outbreak of the disease in February 2020. This is the second-largest record in Europe, after the UK, and the eighth largest in the world.

As of today, 16.1 million cases have been reported in the country.

Hospitalized COVID-19 patients—excluding those in intensive care—were 9,914 on Saturday compared to 10,076 a day earlier.

We had 43 new ICU admissions, down from 46 on Friday. The total number of intensive care patients was 409, compared to the previous 411.

Approximately 421,533 COVID-19 tests were completed on the last day, compared to 437,193 previously, according to the health ministry.
