Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed on Tuesday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave for London to meet party supremo Nawaz Sharif.

A delegation of senior leaders of PML-N will accompany him.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, she noted that several media outlets were broadcasting information that PML-N members were going to visit Nawaz in London, which she said that the government’s adversaries were over the top.

“PML-N members are making a private visit to London to meet with Nawaz Sharif,” she said, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz would also be travelling for this purpose.

However, the minister seemed to downplay the question by saying that the consultation process was not unusual amongst political parties. “This is not that big of a deal, but those who have nothing to say and nothing to show for their performance […] have found a topic.”

The Minister of Information also insisted that a delegation from PML-N would meet with Nawaz for consultations, which was a continuous process.

Multiple sources of PML-N confirmed the development earlier today. A source in London said that the Prime Minister would be travelling with five or six ministers late on Tuesday so he could get there tomorrow morning.

The source said that PM Shehbaz would stay in London for two to three days to meet with Nawaz. However, the source could not confirm the names of the people who would be accompanying the prime minister.

Furthermore, a leader of PML-N—who wanted to remain anonymous—said that it was “true” that Prime Minister Shehbaz would go to London.

For the moment, the exact goal of the trip is unclear.
