PMC Discloses Good News for Doctors
The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) decided to increase the validity of physicians' registration. The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the PMC council.
Reports indicate that doctors will now be registered for five years instead of the previous two years. Furthermore, doctors aged 60 and over will be able to renew their registration by paying only 50% of the total fee.
In addition, the PMC Board has also authorized all provincial medical commissions to complete the 2022 College of Medicine and Dentistry Entry Test.
It also set a pass percentage of 55% and 45% for paper MBBS and BDS programs. The MDCAT application deadline has also been extended by 10 days.
Along the same lines, the Senate Standing Committee on Health rejected the amendments proposed by certain senators to amend the bill entitled “Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Bill 2022”.
In its meeting presided over by Senator Dr. Muhammad Humayun Mohmand, the Standing Committee stated that a bill once approved by the committee cannot be amended, and amendments can only be made to Parliament.
