Rs 42b allocated for scholarships, universities, laptop scheme, and education projects in coming budget

The Finance Division has allocated Rs. 41.87 billion for 149 Public Sector Development Projects (PSDPs) under the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the fiscal year 2022-2023.

138 of these projects are being carried out and Rs. 38.77 billion went to them. Eleven new projects were approved and a total of 3.1 billion was allocated.

As per the Budget FY2022-23 document, a sum of 60 million rupees has been allocated to create bilateral links between universities and research with different countries.

An amount of 300 million rupees has been allocated to academic collaboration within the framework of the CPEC University Consortium. whereas Rs 20 million was allocated for scholarships for the talented students of Gwadar.

100 million rupees have been allocated to scholarships for students in GB in the best universities in the country.

70 million rupees have been earmarked to grant scholarships to 3,000 talented Afghan students. Another Rs. 1 billion was allocated for 3,000 scholarships for Afghan students under the Allama Iqbal scholarship program.

Lastly, Rs. 1billion is to be spent on the Prime Minister’s laptops program.
