Two soldiers of Pak army martyred in shootout with terrorists in Baluchistan’s Harnai: ISPR

Two Pakistan army soldiers embraced martyrdom in Harnai, Balochistan, in a shooting with terrorists, the military's media affairs branch said on Sunday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that terrorists attacked a security force post in the Khost region of Harnaï late Saturday night, which was successfully repelled by the soldiers.

The armed assailants tried to flee after ambushing the forces, according to ISPR.

“The escaping terrorists were pursued into the nearby mountains and an exchange of heavy fire ensued, and as a result, two valiant sons of the soil, Naik Atif and Sepoy Qayyum embraced martyrdom,” the statement added.

He said that the shootout also wounded Major Umer while causing casualties to the terrorists.

The military’s media wing said, “at the eve of 75th Independence Day, security forces remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability, and progress of Balochistan.”

On Saturday, an army soldier was martyred in an IED explosion in Lower Dir while militants were intensifying their attacks on the security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Also, on August 9, four soldiers were martyred in a suicide bombing attack against a military convoy in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district.
