World Bank Approves $535 Million Financing Pakistan


Boosting Resilience in Pakistan

The World Bank has approved $535 million in financing for Pakistan to support two projects: Crisis Resilient Social Protection (CRISP) and Sindh Livestock and Aquaculture Sectors Transformation (LIVAQUA).

Strengthening Social Protection

The CRISP program aims to strengthen Pakistan’s social protection system, building shock resilience among vulnerable households. The additional financing of $400 million will enhance the national cash transfer program’s effectiveness and coverage.

Transforming Livestock and Aquaculture Sectors

The LIVAQUA project will promote climate-smart production, value addition, and market access in the livestock and aquaculture sectors in Sindh. The project will benefit over 940,000 farm families and include measures to ensure female farmers’ participation.

Long-term Impact

Both projects will contribute to Pakistan’s long-term growth, improving food and nutrition security, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting economic recovery.

World Bank’s Commitment to Pakistan

Since 1950, the World Bank has provided over $46 billion in assistance to Pakistan, with a current portfolio of 55 projects and a total commitment of $14.7 billion.
