440 vehicles destroyed in Nazarat fire in Karachi

More than 440 vehicles were destroyed in a massive fire that broke out in the bushes on Nazarat’s premises also called the central pool for unclaimed vehicles, close to Aziz Bhatti Park on Sunday, police said.

Deputy Commissioner for the East, Raja Tariq Hussain, stated that the fire broke out around 9:50 a.m., setting the public property on fire.

A statement released from CM House said that “many motorbikes and other vehicles have been damaged”.

It said the fire was extinguished and the process of cooling began. No causality was reported in the incident.

Late in the evening, an official source told the media that the report on the vehicle damage estimates generated by the DC-East revealed that a “total of 400 bikes,40 cars, a bus and some rickshaws” were destroyed in the fire.

Fire Chief Mubeen Ahmed told the media that six firefighters managed to contain the fire in three hours.
