Christian man wounded in gun attack in Mastung passes away

Wilson Masih, 55, one of four men injured in a rifle attack in the Christian colony of Mastung, died on Tuesday.

The victim was receiving treatment at the Quetta Civil Hospital.

The spokesperson of the Civil Hospital, Dr. Wasim Baig, said that Mr. Masih, transferred from Mastung to the hospital in critical condition, deceased on Tuesday evening.

“The deceased had sustained several gunshot wounds,” said Dr. Baig, adding that the state of the remaining three victims was stable.

The police said that the four were sitting outside their homes when they were attacked. “We are investigating the incident and raids have been carried out to detain the attackers,” a senior police officer told Dawn. There is still no group claiming responsibility for the attack.

Mr. Masih was the elder brother of the former minority member of the Balochistan Assembly, Handery Masih, who was elected in 2013 on the National Party ticket. However, Mr. Handery was shot and killed by his guard outside his home in Quetta in June 2014.
