ECP to announce verdict in PTI’s foreign funding case tomorrow at 10 am
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said it will announce the verdict reserved in a funding matter against the PTI on Tuesday (tomorrow).
The verdict, which was reserved on 21 June, will be announced at 10 am and could have grave consequences for the future of Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
The ECP released a list of cases on Monday evening indicating that a three-member bench will announce the verdict at its 10:00 a.m. meeting on Tuesday.
“Complaint pursuant to Article 6 of the Order of Political Parties, 2022 (For the announcement of the judgment),” the list of case list read.
Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja will lead the bench, other members will be Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Shah Muhammad Jatoi.
The ECP announcement coincides with Imran Khan’s announcement to hold a demonstration outside the ECP building in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The case – also known as PTI’s “foreign funding Case” and “prohibited funding case” – involves funds received from outside the country, including foreign nationals.
PTI’s founding member Akbar S. Babar filed the case eight years ago after breaking up with Imran Khan in 2015.
