PTI Senior leader Fawad Hussain Chaudhry said on Wednesday that the neutral (military) establishment in Pakistan is involved in politics and wondered how it could be neutral either way.
Speaking to a private television channel, the former minister pointed out that if the military institution had had the intention, the PTI government would not have been ousted.
The armed forces and the judiciary have played a political role in Pakistan’s 75-year history. The information monopoly, formerly owned by intelligence agencies, has been abolished by social media. Therefore, they now have to take the decision to continue on this path or adopt the path of modern institutions,’ he said.
The former minister said that this was a distinct matter and that we could simply say that they are not political players.
