Minister of Foreign Affairs Bilawal Bhutto defended former premier Imran Khan’s visit to Russia in the United States, saying that Imran Khan visited Russia in the course of his foreign policy.
Former PM Imran Khan constantly blames the US government for his ouster.
According to Imran Khan, the US overthrew his government in collaboration with local elements because he visited Russia during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and pledged to pursue an independent foreign policy.
Speaking at a press conference in New York, on a question linked to the visit of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to Russia, Bilawal Bhutto said, “as far as the former PM’s trip to Russia [is concerned], I would absolutely defend him,” adding that, “[the] Pakistani PM conducted that trip as part of his foreign policy”.
Bilawal Bhutto stated that nobody knew there would be any conflict between Russia and Ukraine. “I believe it is very unfair to punish Pakistan for such an innocent action.
Of course, Pakistan is absolutely clear as far as it comes to the principles of the UN [United Nations] of non-use of force and we stand by these principles,” he said.
The FM added that Pakistan is not and never intends to be part of a conflict. “We will continue to stress the importance of peace, dialogue, and diplomacy to resolve this conflict in a timely manner,” he said. “We are certainly not going to take the side of an aggressor in this context,” said Bilawal.
Pakistan has its problems and has been witness to a decade of conflict in Afghanistan,he added.
Bilawal stated that Pakistan is now fed up with this war, as it has sacrificed its, children, its leaders, men and women. “Therefore, we believe that by using tools of dialogue and diplomacy, we can resolve many problems”.
Imran Khan should play responsible part in opposition Later, speaking to the media in New York, FM Bilawal chastised former PM Imran Khan for his “undemocratic and unconstitutional politics”.
“Imran Khan’s politics is undemocratic, and against the parliamentary norms, he is moving towards the politics of extremism,” said Bilawal.
