Govt intends to arrest Imran Khan, top PTI leaders

The government has decided to arrest PTI Chairman Imran Khan with the leadership of the party on his way to Peshawar Islamabad on Wednesday (today), a senior security official confirmed Tuesday on the condition of anonymity.

The authorities in detailed meetings with different agencies discussed aspects after detention but eventually decided to use all resources to move forward with the plan, according to sources.

“While it seems impractical to stop them during the long march, the government has no choice but to detain them in order to stop a possible carnage.” the sources said.

They went on to say, according to intelligence reports, that the PTI activists will be well equipped to counteract any resistance from law enforcement and government forces. The agencies are well aware of the fact that, in these circumstances, conflict could not be avoided.
