Karachi receives morning rain amidst another prediction of heavy downpours today

Karachi became pleasant after morning rains on Wednesday, while the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts heavy downpours in the city today.

The wet spell will continue tomorrow as well, says the Met Office.

Heavy torrential rains began on Monday and disturbed life in several areas of the port city. Many streets and roads in the old town are still submerged by storm water and mud.

The roads leading to Civil Hospital are full of water, causing problems for staff members and hospital visitors.

The stagnant rainwater near the Light House and in front of the KMC office on MA Jinnah Road also creates problems for commuters and pedestrians.

On Tuesday, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, New Karachi, North Karachi, Surjani Town, PECHS, I I Chundr in the harbor city, which has been devastated since the start of the monsoon.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad periodically receives drizzles and heavy rains.

In Tando Allah Yar, many roads were flooded by the rain. Rainwater also entered homes in low-lying areas.

In its daily meteorological report on Tuesday, the PMD said that strong monsoon currents penetrate most of the central and southern parts of the country and are likely to continue in the next couple of days.

A western wave is also present in the upper sections, it added, warning that heavy rains could generate urban flooding in Karachi and other parts of Sindh from 16 to 18 August.

Rains in Karachi and throughout the country killed more than 600 people since the start of this year’s monsoon with Balochistan being the most affected province with more than 180 people killed in rains and floods.
