Two-time Olympic ski champion Chloe Kim stated that she will sit down for the 2022-23 season to focus on her mental health after an “exhausting” year.

The American became the youngest woman to claim an Olympic snowboard gold medal after receiving the halfpipe at the 2018 Winter Games as a 17-year vintage and defended her title in Beijing.

“Just for my mental health,” Kim said as she was asked why she made that decision.

Chloe Kim played a trick as part of the women’s snowboard halfpipe final at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

“(I) I’m just starting over. I don’t want to go through it again after such fun but exhausting year, at the same time, knowing that it was an Olympic year.

I just want to take advantage of this time, take everything into account, and then come back when I feel prepared, but from now on the plan is definitely to go after a third medal.”
The 22-year-old also took a full season after the 2018 Games to keep an eye on her education and mental fitness. The Milan-Cortina Olympic Winter Games are scheduled to be held in February 2026.
