Rafael Nadal trains on grass in Mallorca

Rafael Nadal hopes to overcome his foot injury to play at Wimbledon as he trained for the first time on the grass on Monday with a light session in Mallorca.

Nadal did some gentle physical activities during a short, closed session at the Mallorca Country club, where the Mallorca Championships begin on Sunday.

Nadal, 36-year-old, will decide whether to play at Wimbledon which is going to start on June 27, depending upon the intensity of his training from Tuesday until the end of the week.

He said that his left foot was “asleep” owing to infections during his triumph over Casper Ruud in the final of the French Open on June 5, a win that secured him a record-extending 22nd Grand Slam title.
