Retired major goes free on bail in constable’s murder case

An anti-terrorism court issued pre-arrest- bail on Saturday for a retired army officer in a case involving the murder of a police constable in Model Town.

Judge Amber Gul granted the bail to retired Maj Sajid Hussain subject to the provision of 100,000.

Lawyer Farhad Ali Shah appeared before the court on behalf of the suspect and claimed that the case was being further investigated.

He said the police didn’t present any challan of the case and the suspect could not be detained because of a delay by the prosecution.

Hussain’s son, Akrama Bokhari, also charged in the case, remains in pre-trial detention and has not requested bail.

A police team had searched the suspects’ home who were workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) when they opened fire on personnel leading to the immediate death of constable Kamal.
