Ruling coalition decides to file reference in SC to disqualify Imran Khan, other PTI leaders
The ruling coalition has announced that it will file a reference in the Supreme Court for lifetime disqualification of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and PTI leaders taking into account the verdict of the Election Commission of Pakistan in the prohibited financing case.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad on Wednesday, the head of the PDM, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, said that the federal cabinet is also considering putting the names of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Institute chief and other party leaders on the exit control list.
It is relevant to note that the PDM and the coalition parties held a meeting at the PM House, which was led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
PPP leaders Khursheed Shah, Faisal Karim Kundi, Palwasha Behram and Farooq H Naek represented their party in the meeting while PML-N, Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Law Minister Azam Tarar and Rana Tanvir were also present.
PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and former finance minister Ishaq Dar also participated in the meeting via a video conference.
During the meeting, the ruling coalition decided to put the names of PTI leaders on the exit control list (ECL) after the decision of the top poll body.
The final decision on the ECL will be made by the federal cabinet.
