The court ordered the governor of Punjab Baligh-ur-Rehman to swear Elahi into office at 11:30 pm.

President Arif Alvi has been instructed to swear in if the governor is unable to do so.

The three-member bench of the court apex stated that the ruling of the deputy speaker has no legal validity, declaring PTI-PML-Q joint nominee Pervaiz Elahi as the winner.

Activists and supporters of the PTI began to celebrate outside the Supreme Court when the decision was handed down and chanted slogans in favour of Imran Khan.
