Chinese Footwear Industry Injects Rs. 2200 Crore Investment into Pakistan.
Lahore: A delegation from China’s footwear industry visited Lahore and toured the Trade Development Authority, announcing an investment of Rs. 22 billion in Pakistan.
The Director-General of the Trade Development Authority, Raffia Syed, stated that Chinese traders and investors would be provided with every possible facility.
Chairman of the Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association, Mansoor Ehsan, was also present on the occasion.
The Chinese delegation visited shoe factories in Lahore and Sheikhupura and signed an MoU on an MOU.
In the first phase, the delegation announced an investment of Rs. 2 billion, followed by Rs. 20 billion in the second phase.
DG Trade Development Authority Raffia Syed informed the delegation that the footwear industry provides employment to 1 million people daily, while Pakistan is the seventh-largest consumer of shoes.
