Dr. Tasnim Ahsan becomes first Pakistani endocrinologist who clinches Laureate Award
For the first time a Pakistani endocrinologist, Dr. Tasnim Ahsan won the prestigious 2023 Endocrine Society Prize.
In total, 12 experts and healthcare professionals were selected for this year’s Laureate Award. The award celebrates the success of endocrinologists and clinicians around the world, including Dr. Ahsan.
The Professor Emeritus of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and Founding Dean of the Medical Institute of Diabetes Endocrinology & Metabolism in Karachi has been awarded the “International Excellence in Endocrinology” for its outstanding contributions to the field in geographical areas with under-developed resources for hormonal health research, education, clinical practice or administration.
Dr. Ahsan is an internationally acclaimed clinician and educator who has helped establish and grow the field of endocrinology in Pakistan.
She began her first endocrinology practice at JPMC Public Hospital in 1993 and trained over 100 medical trainees in internal medicine and endocrinology.
She is committed to increasing access to care and treating a large trans community at the Medical Institute. In addition, she is a founding member of the Pakistan Endocrine Society.
