Hamas’ military leader, Yahya Sinwar, has communicated his stance on U.S. President Joe Biden’s proposed Gaza ceasefire roadmap to negotiators.
According to a report published in the Wall Street Journal, Yahya Sinwar informed the negotiators that Hamas will not accept Biden’s ceasefire roadmap unless Israel guarantees a permanent cessation of hostilities.
The report, citing Israeli media, claims that Israel has also informed the negotiators that they will wait for Hamas’ response to the American roadmap by Saturday.
If no favorable response is received, Israel plans to intensify its military operations.
Egyptian local media reports that in the past 24 hours, delegations from Palestinian factions Fatah, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine have held extensive meetings and contacts with senior Egyptian government officials.
According to Egyptian media, in addition to these meetings, Hamas leaders have also been in talks with Egypt and have indicated positive signals regarding the ceasefire agreement.
Egypt has invited Hamas leaders to visit the country for discussions on the current situation and to finalize ceasefire terms.
An Egyptian local newspaper has claimed that Hamas will officially present its response to the ceasefire proposal in the coming days.
