US President Joe Biden fell while cycling near his beach home in Delaware State on Saturday morning, but was not injured.
A video from a White House pool video shows that the 79-year-old president got up immediately after his fall. He then said, “I’m good.” He was cycling with First Lady Jill Biden in a state park near their home on Rehoboth Beach. Delaware and had stopped speaking to passers-by when he fell.
The president told a small crowd of supporters and journalists that he had lost his balance while trying to pull a foot out of a bike clip.
The result: “a crazy hustle from the secret service and the press”, a White House pool report said, adding that there were no visible scratches or bruises from the fall.
“No medical care is required,’ said a White House official. “The President is eager for the rest of the day with his family.”
As the oldest President of the United States, Biden’s health is the focus of ongoing attention, especially given the question of whether he will run for a second term in 2024.
Responding to media questions on Saturday, Biden said he was “deciding” to relax certain Trump-era tariffs on Chinese products to ease inflationary pressures.
