PTA reports Internet and mobile phone service failures in several areas of KP following sudden flooding

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reported on Saturday a break in lines of communication in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following persistent torrential rains and sudden floods throughout the country.

In a statement this morning, the telecom regulator stated that the flash floods damaged the fiber optic cable and caused power outages. Because of that, there is an “impact” on services.

Services have been suspended in Chitral, Upper Dir, Donbala, Swat, Mardan, Lal Qila Samarbaghdir, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Devastating flash floods have paralyzed the lives of people throughout Pakistan, with rains and flood-related deaths soaring to 982, according to official statistics.
