T20 World Cup: Security Measures Tightened for India-Pakistan Match

New York: Organizers and ICC security officials are unwilling to take any risks for the India-Pakistan match in the New York T20 World Cup.

After threats to target the scheduled match on June 9 in New York, a decision has been made to further intensify security measures.

According to foreign media reports, snipers will be deployed by the Nassau County Police Department to discreet locations around the stadium for the match.

The parkland around the temporary stadium will be closed to the public on match days to prevent possible drone attacks.

Spectators will undergo security screening before entering the stadium.

Organizers have planned a major operation, with special weapons and tactics (SWAT) teams and plainclothes officers inside the ground.

An ICC official stated that security is t heir top priority, and they have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place.

It was also disclosed that Pakistan has been placed in Group A for the tournament, alongside India, Ireland, Canada, and the USA.

They will play their first match against the USA in Dallas on June 6.
