The Pakistan cricket team will face its first challenge of the T20 World Cup against host USA on Thursday.

Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, Pakistan previously lost to England in the final of the last World Cup in Melbourne.

With Babar Azam reinstated as captain and new head coach Gary Kirsten and his coaching staff, the team faces new challenges.

Last year, Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the 50-over World Cup, leading to the dismissal of Babar Azam as captain and the entire coaching staff.

Babar Azam commented, “This is going to be an exciting but highly challenging tournament. We will adopt a situation-based policy for team selection, as conditions in the USA are new. The players are aware of their roles and responsibilities.”

For the USA, playing against the former champions is a proud moment and a significant opportunity.

Having won a series against Bangladesh and defeated Canada in their first match, the USA has proven they deserve their place, which is great news for the promotion and development of cricket in the region. “We will give them the respect they deserve,” Babar Azam said.

The captain hopes that this third T20 World Cup under his leadership will be a fortunate one.

The match in Dallas will start at 8:30 PM Pakistan time. On June 9, Pakistan will face their traditional rivals India in New York.

Babar Azam, who is leading Pakistan for the third consecutive T20 World Cup, was 14 years old when Younis Khan won the 2009 T20 World Cup at the historic Lord’s ground.

Reflecting on those memories, Babar Azam said, “I still remember the 2009 victory and Younis Khan lifting the trophy in front of the pavilion.”
