After the Battle of the Trench, when Hazrat Ali (R.A) defeated Amr ibn Abd al-Wud, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) reportedly gave Hazrat Ali (RA) the name Haider-e-Karrar or Asadullah (Lion of Allah) and praised him, saying ‘Ali’s strike on Amr ibn Abd al-Wud is greater than the worship of both mankind and jinn until the Day of Judgement.
